We use American-grown hemp (Cannabis sativa) to make our products. Hemp plants are members of the Cannabis genus which contain lower levels of THC and higher levels of CBD.
Our plants are grown on a farm in Kentucky. They are organically-grown, meaning that they are grown without the use of synthetic chemicals. Synthetic chemical pesticides are not used, and pest control is achieved via natural methods such as the encouragement of insect predators like praying mantises. In the U.S., to be considered organic, crops must be grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, bioengineered genes (GMOs), petroleum-based fertilizers, and sewage sludge-based fertilizers. Our hemp crops meet these standards.
The benefit of organically-grown hemp means that the products produced from our hemp plants are naturally pesticide-free. Non-organic crops are grown using a variety of fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides – which can remain on and in the final consumed product. But not at Wai Natural!
