Questions To Ask Before Buying CBD

Hemp is a bioaccumulator, meaning that it can absorb many things (good and bad) from the air, water, and soil in which it is grown. So before purchasing hemp oil or CBD oil derived from hemp, you should ask where the hemp was grown and how it was grown. At Wai Natural, our hemp is organically grown in the United States to help assure you that our products are free of toxic substances like pesticides, herbicides, or heavy metals. Why is US-grown hemp also an important factor? Some countries have lax requirements on what can be used during the growing process, and unwanted foreign substances could find their way into non-US-grown hemp. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive component of cannabis responsible for its “high” and associated cognitive impairments. If you are subjected to drug tests at your place of employment, if you operate heavy machinery, or fall into any number of other categories, you will want to keep your THC consumption to the barest minimum. Furthermore, to quality as a legal hemp product, CBD oil or hemp oil must contain less than 0.03% THC. The best sellers (like Wai Natural!) have zero THC in their products. Currently, the CBD market is not subjected to regulation or oversight. That means that there are unethical sellers out there selling a “watered down” product and some products that may not even contain CBD. At Wai Natural, we provide you, the Consumer, with access to our third-party laboratory reports so that you know exactly what you are buying, and we provide exact concentrations on our individual product pages. Death and taxes are the only guarantees in life, so don’t take a company’s word that its products are contaminant free and contain the advertised amount of CBD! You should always purchase CBD oil and Hemp oil from a company which tests its products using an unbiased third-party laboratory. Furthermore, they should test for the following things: 1) Cannabinoid Levels (CBD and THC), 2) Pesticides, 3) Residual Solvents, 4) Bacteria and Fungi, and 5) Heavy Metals. At Wai Natural, we use third-party laboratory testing to test for all of these things. Click here to read more about each of these tests and to view the laboratory reports for Wai Natural’s products.
The extraction of CBD from hemp is not as easy as squeezing an orange to get its juice. It is a much more complicated process. The cheapest and easiest extraction methods involve the use of harsh solvents that dissolve the hemp plant material, but which can also leave behind unwanted chemical residues in the extracted product. The best and most reliable extraction method uses pressurized carbon dioxide (CO2) under extremely low temperatures to extract the CBD without leaving behind contaminants. The CO2 itself simply evaporates away once the process is complete. Not all companies use CO2 extraction because it is an expensive process that uses complex equipment and requires expertise, yet it ensures the highest quality product. Wai Natural uses the CO2 extraction method to ensure we offer the purest and highest quality product to our customers. In the case of Hemp oil and CBD oil, cheaper is NOT always better. The production of high-quality CBD oil using an extraction process that doesn’t leave behind harsh chemicals is not cheap. Companies offering super-cheap CBD products are more than likely using cheaper and easier chemical extraction processes that increase the risk of having toxic solvents like butane, propane, and ethanol in the final products. Also, if the hemp is grown organically in the United States, then this can also increase the cost – but also the quality, purity, and potency of the product. At Wai Natural, we strive to bring you the cheapest possible price while also delivering a high-quality product. We’re don’t have the cheapest products around… but then we also don’t have low-quality products either!
Pure isolated CBD extract would look like a white powder that would be difficult for your body to absorb. Therefore, this water-insoluble extract is usually dissolved in a carrier oil. CBD extract can be dissolved in coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, or grape seed oil. Which is best? The best choice is a carrier oil that increases the bioavailability of the CBD (in other words, it makes it easier for the body to absorb the CBD). Different oils also differ in flavor, consistency, and cost. Wai Natural uses a medium chain triglycerides (MCT) oil derived from both coconut and palm oils. MCTs are super easy for the body the absorb, and thus they greatly increase the bioavailability of the CBD. They also have some health benefits of their own. It is important to be wary of an CBD company who makes medical claims about CBD. There is only one CBD product (Epidiolex, available by prescription) which has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of a medical condition (childhood epilepsy). Any trustworthy CBD company will be up front with you about this fact. Here at Wai Natural we have teamed up with a scientist (Dr. Nikki Sawyer) to help explain the scientific research which has been conducted on CBD and you can find information about that research in many places, but Wai Natural’s products and website information are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease! Never use any information from Wai Natural to diagnose or treat ANY medical problem. Instead, you should consult your medical care provider. Since the scientific and medical research on CBD is still ongoing, there are no guidelines about the correct dosage of CBD to take. Many people start out with 5 mg of CBD per day, and increase that amount as necessary. The current evidence shows that CBD is very safe, so we generally recommend exploring different doses to see exactly what works for you. Actually, industrial hemp and marijuana are technically the same plant - Cannabis sativa. However, due to selective breeding, the plant known as “hemp” is generally more fibrous with long stalks and few flowers, while the plant known as “marijuana” is generally smaller, bushier, and filled with more flowers and buds. Marijuana strains of C. sativa also have a higher THC-to-CBD ratio than hemp strains. In the United States, the legal definition of “commercial hemp” is a C. sativa plant with a THC concentration of not more than 0.3% on a dry weight basis. No! Standard hemp seed oil – which can be purchased rather cheaply at the supermarket – is produced by cold-pressing the seeds of the hemp plant. Hemp seeds contain very little CBD even though it is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin E. Our hemp oil product is extracted from the whole plant (not just the seeds), and so it does contain a significant amount of CBD.
Standard drug tests test for the presence of THC (the psychoactive component of marijuana), not CBD. In fact, CBD is considered to be undetectable in standard saliva or urine tests. If you are subject to drug tests, you should always make sure that your CBD product is THC-free. Wai Natural’s product are THC-free, and you can click here to read more about it!
No! You will not experience a “high” feeling from ingesting CBD. The “high” associated with marijuana (cannabis) use comes from the compound known as THC. Wai Natural’s products are guaranteed THC-free and so are free of any intoxicating effects. Click here to read more about the differences between CBD and THC.
